Goodbye tiny kitchen and purplish-brown stretched-out carpet with stains of who knows what. Goodbye sparkly popcorn ceiling from the 70s. Goodbye water-stained and literally-pulling-out-of-the-wall cabinets. Goodbye moldy tub grout and peeling vinyl floors. Goodbye single-paned windows. Goodbye bipolar garbage disposal and temperamental oven. Goodbye memories of our first night in the place and sleeping on the floor, eating off of our KitchenAid mixer's box for weeks because we didn't have a table yet, random love notes left for each other, of studying for tests together on our Navajo barf couch, playing games with friends jammed into our little living room, and putting up our first Christmas tree. Goodbye wonderful newlywed and married student memories. Goodbye awesome 7-minute walk to campus and 5-minute walk to Smith's. Goodbye Provo and our little Apartment #1 on 87 West. ):
Hello apartment that's only 20 years old! Hello unstained carpet, new couch, 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, big kitchen, pretty grout and floors, intact cabinetry, and quiet neighbors! Hello hot water that doesn't run out, wonderful biking trails nearby, and beautiful Timpanogos view!
Moving out of our first place together was definitely so bittersweet, but we are so happy here! We were hoping against hope that an apartment would open up in these complexes right across from Ryan's work when we realized that me getting this job in Cottonwood Heights was a real possibility. In April, one did(!!!) and we pounced on it. As per usual, leaving that Provo stage of my life with all its memories of wonderful roommates, my alma mater, and everything else that made those four years so wonderful made me cry, but I'm with Ryan so it's okay. [: We're ready to make new memories and new friends. Hello Pleasant Grove!
