I think we could all admit that we were dead-tired on this last day in Paris. We were ready for a chill day and didn't have a whole lot planned: Laura and Rich wanted to go see the Luxembourg Gardens and Ryan and I were thinking about heading to see the Catacombs. But first, one of the last things on my MUST DO Paris bucket list: crepes.
And they were dang good.
We took the metro down toward the catacombs and were walking when it started to sprinkle a bit. But it was full on POURING by the time we were standing in line at the entrance! After some consideration of the weather, the huge line that we would probably be standing in for at least an hour, and our current mood, we decided to ditch the Catacombs. We ran through the pouring rain, hugging close to the buildings where the overhangs would protect us, but we soon gave up and just booked it down the sidewalks, along with everyone else in the street. We were both running and dodging puddles and laughing in amazement at how much rain there was! It was just pouring. We sprinted into the metro station looking like we had just climbed out of a swimming pool. It'll always be a great memory. [:
Luckily it stopped raining after awhile and we did some shopping. [: I needed a belt, and while we were standing in line with it (like 27 euros for the dinky thing! Urg.) I spotted a scarf I had to have and I'm so happy I bought it! It's now one of my favorites, and I love that it has lots of happy memories attached to it.
More drooling over buildings while we walked.
Then we headed to Monoprix, the Parisian version of Target, where I bought the cutest butter dish for our kitchen as well as some sugar bowls. I love them. They always make me happy when I see them.
For our last meal we all went to a restaurant across the street where they had a live classical pianist playing that night. We felt very classy eating our food with the live music and French-y atmosphere, until Ryan spotted something by his foot - a little MOUSE. Oh my goodness, the Disney movie Ratatouille playing out before our very eyes. It was the cutest thing, but not something you usually want to see in an establishment where your food is being prepared... But the best was yet to come. Rich called our waiter over and let him know what we had just seen, and Ryan and I almost died laughing at Laura's facial response to the waiter's reply. "Of course there are mice, sir. This is Paris!" And then he turned and walked away. :O Ha! That'll always be one for the books. We finished our dinner with Laura sitting cross-legged on her chair (teehee!). We'll never forget that dinner for sure. Our last in Paris. [:
