Home scenes

Well we finally got our obligatory wedding shrine wedding pictures up in the apartment. I like them mucho and how they fill in the terrible empty space over our couch. I celebrated by feeling good enough about my interior design skills to open my living room to the blogosphere. Plus, when we’ve got kids fifteen years down the road it’ll be fun to show them mom & dad’s first apartment.
Our place is great. It’s old, but it’s cheap and that’s what we need right now. Our garbage disposal may have vomited all over and flooded the kitchen while we were out of town last weekend, and our air conditioning unit may leak into a 5-gallon bucket that we have to put under it, but I do love our place. Mostly cause it’s just that – ours. We get to share it. [: Another thing I love is the natural light we get in our little place – we’ve got extra windows due to our location on the corner of the complex. Good stuff.
Since I married a man who lived all over the world during his childhood and has like zero belongings, all contributions to our living room decor have been mine or thrifted discoveries from KSL. {Except for his precious books. [: } But luckily we’ve got the same taste - pieces like my Nat Geo’s, rock collection, the beautiful Brunton compass I won in a photography contest recently, maps on the walls, the painting of Mount Rainier that we bought from a local artist at Pike Place, and our little cacti add just the feel we like. I guess it’s kind of an earthy, global rustic feel. I also love dark wood and hues of red and yellow. You’ll definitely see that in the pictures.
We scored on furniture. Our armchair, desk, and couch all came from my parents’ house. The armchair is something that my family has had for as long as I can remember, so I’m grateful that we got to keep something that’s so familiar to me. Our bookcases and coffee table were both scores from KSL for a hundred bucks total. Boo yah.
We received three Gray family signs as wedding gifts... this one won out.
 A peek of the kitchen.
We bought these old National Geographic magazines from an antiques shop on our honeymoon.
I love them.
I love our home.
