Momma Weekend

Saturday, April 12, 2014

My mom came for a visit back in March thanks to an extra standby pass that Ryan’s parents had. Having two Krop kids here has been so fun already, and it made it extra fun when Mom came. We decided to head down to Canyonlands National Park for an overnight trip. I had recently been there for my photography field trip and wanted to do some more exploring. Plus, Ryan had never been so it meant we could check another park off our goal of seeing all the parks together. (Five down!) We arrived at midnight and found that the campground was totally full, so we turned around and camped at Dead Horse State Park instead. We ended up spending half the day there before making it to Island in the Sky. The day started out cloudy and windy, but by noon it was cool and sunny. I love these places.
There was a lot of "dangling" done on this trip, aka sticking your head over thousand-foot drops and pretending that you AREN'T totally risking your life. I refused to participate and got pictures instead.
The famous Schafer Trail. We only drove about ten minute's-worth of it before we got to an area that our minivan couldn't handle, but it was stunning the whole time.
 Mesa Arch.
We did a couple little hikes that lead to beautiful structures left by natives.
 Beetle trail. [:
 More dangling...
 Beautiful old juniper.
I love the desert. And mom weekends.
