Independence Day in Grand Teton

The Potts have been our camping buddies for awhile now, but this was our first trip where they got to share a tent! ;] We always used to tease them about the burden of bringing three tents on our trips when they were dating, griping about how they just needed to get married so that we could narrow it down to two. That trip finally came and we spent it with the newlyweds in beautiful Wyoming, continuing our tradition of spending the long 4th of July weekend with the Potts in a national park!
Man were the campgrounds PACKED. We were so lucky to find a site that was reserved but had been left early by the original party. Ryan and I often wish Americans would just stick with the stereotype of being fat and lazy and stay home so that we can enjoy the parks in peace! ;] Just kidding. A little. Luckily we found the more difficult trails to be deserted, so we did get the peace and quiet we came for.
Our ninth park together. [: I love traveling with Ryan.
We hiked, played games, relaxed and talked by the fire late into the night, made epic s'mores, slept in, enjoyed chili dinners and pancake breakfasts, ran into an awesome vacationing Dutch family that Ryan loved talking to, swam in the lakes, and just enjoyed.
Reese's s'mores and hours of Catan. Evenings very well spent.
So many lakes! Ah I loved them. We hiked to as many as we could and loved getting out past all the Independence-Day-picnickers and boaters to our own secluded cove for some swimming.
Happy birthday, America! I love you from here to the top of the Tetons.
